This month, we officially welcomed a new staff member; Kara Brandon. Kara is a freshman at A&M and has a long history of event planning in her life, starting in the 4th grade. Of this event, she says, "A hurricane had just slammed the gulf coast and my mom suggested we do something to help the those affected by the storm. Instead of cleaning out the closet, I decided to hold a 5k In our neighborhood to benefit the victims of the storm. We raised about $3,000, with help from our parents in organizing." As a freshman in high school, Kara was the coordinator for their class community benefit concert. For this event, she booked vendors, made sure everybody was in place and brought in media presence. The event raised over $5,000 for the victims of the tornado in Joplin and tsunami in Japan. Throughout her high school years, Kara coordinated countless high school and holiday parties as well as high school bible studies and started an annual Powder Puff football game at her school. Her most recent event was a multiple day bike ride, Miles 4 Marce, out at the Texas World Speedway. As the event organizer, she coordinated with sponsors, vendors, media, and riders. Over 100 riders participated and over $11,000 was raised to help Marce, a 9 year old orphan who lives in Cozumel, Mexico, raise funds for her cochlear implant surgery and rehabilitation.
We were delighted when Kara showed interest in joining WonderfullyWed to expand her career goals of becoming a wedding coordinator. She is a benefit to our vision of making your wedding day stress free, relaxing and enjoyable. She has a natural gift as a leader and organizer, and a passionate heart to love and serve others.
